In all the years I have talked about wanting to publish a book, this book, no one ever once told me that publishing a book is hard work. Listen, I didn’t think it would be all easy peasy lemon squeezy, but I thought I would just write my stuff and get it illustrated and hand it over to the publishing company. And, voilà! Like magic it would be the perfect book. Magic! Perfect book! Done! Mic drop!

Guess what? That is not at all what happens!

In my head I knew it wasn’t magic, but I kind of thought I’d hand the publishing company a stack of stuff (or at least soft copies via email) and in exchange I’d get a book. There are meetings that take place, conversations, emails, and many questions.

“What kind of paper do you want?”
“Do you want hardcover or soft cover?”
“What dimensions do you want the book to be?”
“Do you want it in color or black and white?” – for the record, it will be in color because the illustrations are too awesome for black and white
“What font do you want?”
“Do you want a dedication page?”
“Do you want acknowledgements?”
“What about writing something about the author?”
“What do you want the cover of the book to look like?”

And, so on and so on. Those who know me understand that I like to be in control of things (all things, all the time), but believe it or not there are times when I look to the experts for their expertise! I know when I’m out of my element! Hence the reason I knew I wasn’t cut out to be a mom.

Today I reviewed proof #2, provided them with one change, and then on to the next step. Hopefully in the near future I will have a soft copy that looks more like what the actual book will be in the end, and then an actual printed copy to look over in book form.

While it looks like the actual delivery date of the book will be October instead of September (sorry to all my backers), it is definitely coming along and I promise it will be worth it. A friend took a peek at it today and this is what she had to say:

“Well done, my friend, and congratulations.  It is a really fun book!”

I hope that based on her note to me, you will all love it as much as I do. Don’t forget that if you want to order copies you can order them right here on the website. By ordering directly from me I will be able to earn more to give back to local children’s charities and organizations!

Stick around for more updates – the book will be here before we know it!

The official title and sub-title have been decided, and you will be able to find the book under:
