As I look around the house I see so many CDs and DVDs that probably deserve a better life than just being stacked up in a closet somewhere. As a crafty person, of course, my first inclination is to find some way to re-purpose them and make them into some fabulous sculpture or something. With that in mind I made a quick stop on Pinterest (haha…stop laughing you know there is nothing quick about poking around on Pinterest). You should see all the magnificent things you can make out of old CDs and DVDs! Check out the Pinterest board I created for inspiration. Admittedly, many of the ones I like the best are way too complex and something I would never sit down to make.
So, I continued my search on the web and still what I was finding I probably wouldn’t do. But I will tell you what I want to do with many of them – SELL them. Oh yeah! As a small business owner I am always looking for a few extra bucks to fund my hobby / small business. I have shops set up on several online sites where I can sell my old books, extra craft supplies, household goods and everything in between. The problem with that is you have to take the time to list everything and wait (and wait and wait) for someone to buy what you are selling. And frankly, I want (and sometimes need) the money sooner than that. I have decided that the best course of action for me (that will provide me a way to fund my small business AND have a little extra cash for my two trips to Connecticut this year) will be to sell DVDs online at this place I recently learned about. If you are looking for options to sell your stuff for cash and get rid of old CDs, DVDs and games you may want to check them out!
I won’t be retiring from the funds I earn…I don’t have that many CDs and DVDs, but I will earn some great pocket money and will be able to clean up the clutter and hopefully they will go on to loving homes where they are appreciated and no longer collecting dust. musicMagpie has an easy to use platform – simply type in the UPC code from your CD or DVD and it will provide an immediate valuation for that item. Send your “like new” items to them for FREE and once they verify everything is in working order (everything needs to be in perfect working condition and include the original artwork and cases) a check will be on it’s way to you. Guess what I will be doing this weekend?
As with anything, you may want to do your own research. I have not used their service yet, but will be happy to report back after doing so. Feel free to leave any comments or information if you have used this service – I’d love to hear from you!
That is just a small glimpse of my stash of CDs and DVDs…
Have I given you any inspiration today? Are you on your way to cash in on the CDs and DVDs you have laying around? Or will you be the next big sculptor? Let me know what you are up to!
