Did you know that July 26th is All of Nothing Day? Carpe Diem! Seize the Day!
According to Cute Calendar this is what they have to say about All or Nothing Day…
Everyone has a wish he did not fulfill yet because it might be too risky, difficult or even dangerous. On All or Nothing Day everyone should go for it. If you want to try an adrenalin sport but hesitate or if you finally want to propose to your sweetheart, kiss your neighbour, cut your hair or speak to that one person you always see at the bus-stop… do it on All or Nothing Day!
Though, I would say if you are waiting for a date on a calendar to go out and finish something you started, start something you’ve been dreaming about, or even start dreaming – you are missing opportunities every single day!
As you might already know, I’ve been known to seize the day, including recently with moving forward to work on publishing my book. When certain things happen in our lives we often finally realize that we need to stop bogging ourselves down with things that don’t really matter, and need to focus on the things we have a passion for or have always wanted to try!
This becomes even more important when you encounter a health scare personally or with someone close to you. In August 2014, when my dad passed away unexpectedly I couldn’t help but think of all the things he and mom will miss out on over the course of the rest of her life. They were finally starting to enjoy more out of life including traveling.
Recently, I was once again reminded that life is short and we should go after our dreams! I was introduced to this idea by Heather Von St. James, and it really hit home with me because I sometimes write about helping others and giving back. It turns out that Heather was diagnosed with mesothelioma in 2005 and wasn’t originally given much hope of survival.
Married for only 6.5 years and with a 3 month old baby, Heather knew that her only option was to fight! I mean, what would you do if you heard these words from the doctor?
Little did Heather know, but my grandfather (fondly called Buppy) was diagnosed with mesothelioma and passed away July 2005 as a result of the mesothelioma due to asbestosis. At 85 years old he had lived a really good life filled with love, happiness, and laughter. It’s a completely different ballgame when you are only 36 when you are diagnosed!
It is now 11 years later, and Heather is not only an advocate for fighting for those who may have to face the ugly diagnosis of cancer (especially mesothelioma), but she lives each day to the fullest enjoying every moment with family and friends! Doesn’t this look like a family worth fighting for? Heather, her husband Cam, and her daughter are all survivors in my book!
