As you have figured out by now…I not only run my blog, but have a small online business as well. There are so many great tools you can have to run your business if you work from home. I’d like to share a few with you.
Do you own a home business? If so, you’ll need these software titles to stay productive and organized.
I use QuickBooks daily and have used it for years. While it may be a little robust for my current business, I have used it over the years in different companies, and because of it’s ease of use and my knowledge of it – it was the perfect choice for me. Also, if you will be working with an Accountant for your taxes and other reporting – most will be using QuickBooks as well which makes it easy for you to share information.

I absolutely LOVE creating PDF files. If I create a transaction online and it says to print a copy for your records – I always {I mean…always} save the document to a PDF instead of printing. I hate to have a lot of unnecessary paper around the house. Instead of having a filing cabinet full of paper – I choose to have a “virtual” filing cabinet. I create folders on my computer and save my documents there. But, don’t forget – an important part to having everything on your computer is also having a back-up. Make sure you have an external hard drive with adequate space to save a duplicate copy of all of your files.

I do not currently use Project or another form of a project management program. Not that it wouldn’t be helpful – I just haven’t done it yet. Though, writing this post might help me move that along a bit quicker. It doesn’t hurt to be as organized as possible when running a business!
