I don’t mind holding a garage sale, but I get a little freaked out going to them. I’ve only actually shopped at a handful (probably less) of garage sales in my entire life. I get creeped out by other people’s stuff. I hate saying that because it makes me sound stuck up – like my stuff is good enough for other people to buy, but their’s isn’t.

I think I was traumatized as a kid after my father took me to this place called Railroad Salvage in Groton, CT. It was a store that had things that were used and new. A lot of it was dirty and looked like it had fallen off of delivery trucks on the way to what should have been their final destination. I cried every time my father suggested going there and to this day my family makes fun of me because of my reaction to it!

Trust me, though, it’s equally as bad or worse if someone wants me to go to a Flea Market. Oh. My. Word. My memories of flea markets include dirty dusty walk ways, musty smelling old tools, and farm animals. I’m beginning to wonder where I actually grew up!

Anyway, if the day isn’t too hot or too cold and I have a bunch of stuff that could use a new home – I’d happily set up a garage sale!  But you likely won’t see me shopping at one.

Garage Sale

I’m joining Crossroads Media Hub and some blogging friends of mine in the 30 Days of Writing Prompts – June 2014.  I am not promising a post every single day, but you never know.  There are some fun prompts on the list.  Want to join the fun?  Why don’t you!?  It’s the perfect way to get back into writing if you’ve been stuck for ideas, fun to read what others write about the same subject…and, well, just fun in general!
