Today’s writing prompt is “List 5 things you will never do again. I’ve been reading this list of prompts since the end of May and this one kind of has me stuck. The truth is – I feel like once you say you will never do something again you either really never can do it again in order to prove to people you said it and meant it or what seems to be the norm for me is that as soon as I say I won’t do it again the opportunity comes up to do it again!
Tonight after a very long day (and week of traveling) that resulted in flight changes and delays I finally arrived home about 10:45 and I’d like to say “I will never travel again” but I know that’s not really true. I quit drinking soda 13 years ago and I guess I can say I will never do that again, but I have (on occasion) had a sip to see if I miss it. I don’t! I took my second cruise last year (2012 / 2013 over the New Year weekend) and after that cruise I felt like I would never take a cruise again. Especially seeing so many recent stories of problems with cruise ships – running out of food, people getting sick, etc. So, maybe that one will really stick. My mother and I made 4 road trips to CT and after the 1st or 2nd one I said I’d never do it again, and as you see we did it 4 times. Now that my Grammy has passed it is likely it won’t happen again, but one never knows!
There are 2 or 3 craft projects I’ve done that I feel safe in saying I will never do them again. The first is a large chair (more like the size of a settee or something maybe) cushion I recovered for a friend. Yeah…now I know why upholstery is so expensive. That’s hard work!! Look at this size in comparison to my Toyota Highlander, which I had at the time.
The second is a market tote bag. I think it’s absolutely beautiful, but it was many {many} pieces of individual fabrics sewn together and was a lot of work. It’s a one-of-a-kind. 🙂
And the third might be this large duffle I recently made in a sewing class.
I thought of one other thing I might never do again…cross stitch!! I started this project as a gift, and it may not ever get finished. I used to cross stitch years ago and thought it would be fun to do this one project as a gift. Yeah, it’s not as much fun as I remember.
What about you? Do you have anything you will never do again? And if so, why?
I’m joining Crossroads Media Hub and some blogging friends of mine in the 30 Days of Writing Prompts – June 2014. I am not promising a post every single day, but you never know. There are some fun prompts on the list. Want to join the fun? Why don’t you!? It’s the perfect way to get back into writing if you’ve been stuck for ideas, fun to read what others write about the same subject…and, well, just fun in general!
