I bet every time you are looking at your bed linens you don’t even give much thought to the pillow cases. I mean, they are {just} pillow cases, right? You could probably sleep without a pillow case – if you had to. And, unless you found some super secret place that sells queen and king sized Super Hero, My Little Pony or Rainbow sheet sets those pillow cases are probably no more exciting than the muted colors of the sheets themselves.
Recently my friend Trish over at Lemon Drop Creations told me about the American Patchwork & Quilting 1 Million Pillowcase Challenge.
There are so many great sponsors, participating Quilt and Fabric shops and participating charities. Can you imagine being a child in the hospital and being given a fun, brightly colored pillow case? A pillow case that is NOT {just} a pillow case? This bright and fun pillow case could mean the difference between a good day in the hospital and a bad day. If you’ve ever spent any time in the hospital at all you know that it can be a wee bit depressing. I’ve stayed over night a couple times and it would have been so much better with a soft, bright, comfy pillow case under my head!
Can you sew? Do you know someone who can sew? Get involved! Make a difference in someone’s life. There are so many great charities and organizations that will benefit from this!
Please consider making a difference in the lives of others. There are patterns available that are simple and easy to follow – they have patterns for anyone of any sewing level! I hope you will join me, and my friend Trish, in making a difference!
As always, I love comments and would love to hear from you. Share information about how you made a difference in this campaign or something similar. If you know of other great opportunities to sew and help others I’d love to hear about it!
This is a great cause. But I don’t know how to sew at all. I might just have to figure something out.
Thanks for your note Carla. I know that not everyone can sew or participate in all the things that I try to do, but if you are interested I have a GoFundMe account for those that want to help financially. I take donations for fabric and supplies and make the donation of the finished product in your name. http://www.gofundme.com/pin9k
